Two Injured in Rollover Crash South of Aurora

Northeast Radio SD News - Aurora, SD - Two drivers were treated for injuries following a two-vehicle collision and rollover south of Aurora on Wednesday morning. The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred at approximately 7:04 a.m. on November 19 at the intersection of SD Highway 324 and 476th Avenue.


According to the preliminary investigation, a 2006 Mercury Montego driven by 57-year-old David Flammond of Brookings was traveling eastbound on SD Highway 324. Flammond reported seeing a 2024 Ford Maverick, driven by 29-year-old Francelia Quick of Aurora, approaching the intersection southbound on 476th Avenue moments before impact.


The vehicles collided within the intersection and rolled into the southeast ditch. Flammond’s vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side, requiring the Aurora Fire Department to perform an extrication.


Flammond was transported to Brookings Hospital by ambulance, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Quick was transported to the same hospital by private vehicle for evaluation and was also subsequently released.


Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office. The Aurora Fire Department and Brookings Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
