Update: SUV Crashes Through Johnson Chiropractic in Watertown, Causing Extensive Damage but No Injuries

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Johnson Chiropractic is sharing new details after a midsize SUV crashed through the front wall of the clinic Friday afternoon, traveling more than 40 feet into the building and causing extensive interior damage.
The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. at 1101 10th Avenue SE, with Watertown Police and Watertown Fire Rescue responding to the scene. Initial information from WFR indicated the SUV entered approximately 15 feet into the building and that damage was limited to non‑structural components.
“Crews found a midsize SUV approximately 15 feet inside the business,” the release stated.
However, in a detailed weekend update, Dr. Isaac from Johnson Chiropractic said the vehicle traveled over 40 feet inside the clinic, striking the reception desk before crashing into the shared corner of a therapy room, office, and bullpen.
No Injuries Reported
Dr. Isaac said the driver insisted she was okay after exiting the vehicle, though shaken. A staff member at the front desk saw the SUV enter the building and was able to dive out of the way.
“Thankfully, my team member… was able to dive out of the way. Shaken by the accident but not caught up in the vehicle’s destructive path,” he wrote.
No patients were in the impacted area at the time.
Significant Interior Damage
The clinic reports extensive destruction to:
· The reception desk
· Office, bullpen, and therapy room
· Furniture, décor, plants, and clinic equipment
· Flooring and walls from the point of entry to beyond where the vehicle stopped
Dr. Isaac said damage extended 10 feet past the vehicle’s resting point.
Rapid Repairs Over the Weekend
Despite the severity, the clinic says structural integrity was not compromised. Gross Brothers Construction enclosed the exterior wall within hours, and Kloos Electric restored electrical service.
Staff and volunteers spent the weekend:
· Clearing debris
· Rebuilding damaged walls
· Performing temporary repairs to the reception desk
· Preparing the clinic to reopen
Johnson Chiropractic says it will remain closed Monday, August 24, but hopes to reopen Tuesday, August 25, depending on ongoing cleanup and repair needs.
Clinic Requests Privacy During Repairs
Dr. Isaac asked the public not to stop by to look at the damage:
“Please do not be a looky-loo… We still have a business to run, patients to take care of, and it will be difficult enough having to do those things in a partial construction zone.”
The clinic thanked Watertown first responders, construction crews, friends, and family who assisted with cleanup and repairs.
