USACE Releases Final Flood Risk Study for Watertown, Public Comments Open Through June 15

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the City of Watertown, has released the Final Feasibility Study and Environmental Assessment for the proposed Watertown Flood Risk Management Project and is now seeking public comment.


According to the announcement, the project is designed to reduce flood risk for Watertown and the surrounding areas. The recommended plan includes widening the Big Sioux River channel and constructing a levee along the east side of the river.


Residents are encouraged to review the full report and submit comments directly to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers by June 15, 2026.



Community members can find additional project details and submit feedback through the public review portal during the comment period.
