Watertown Arrows Fall Just Short Against No. 2 Tea Area in 28-21 Class 11AA Thriller
Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown Arrows gave second‑rated Tea Area all they could handle Friday night before falling 28‑21 in a hard‑fought Class 11AA matchup at the Allen Mitchell Athletic Complex.
Tea quarterback Mitch Grant proved the difference, rushing for 188 yards and two touchdowns while adding 141 passing yards and an 81‑yard scoring reception. His 22‑yard keeper with 5:17 remaining sealed the Titans’ win.
Watertown (2‑1) led 14‑7 at halftime after Lincoln Schutt’s 2‑yard touchdown run and Kaeden Himmerich’s 23‑yard strike to Braden Jenc. Schutt added another score from the 1‑yard line in the fourth quarter to tie the game before Tea’s late surge.
The Titans’ defense limited the Arrows to just 25 yards rushing and closed out the game with three sacks in the final minute.
Local first responders were honored before kickoff as part of the 25‑year remembrance of the September 11 attacks.
Watertown will look to rebound next Friday when they travel to face Pierre T.F. Riggs in conference play.
