Watertown Fire Rescue Assists Florence Fire Department at Large Farm Shop Fire

Northeast Radio SD News – Florence, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue assisted the Florence Fire Department Tuesday evening after a fire broke out in a large farm shop, according to a media release from WFR.

“On August 18, 2026, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a mutual aid request from the Florence Fire Department for a shop fire,” the release stated.

WFR sent Engine 1, Tender 1, and Medic 4 to the scene. Crews supported fire suppression efforts, established a water supply, and provided EMS standby while firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The structure involved was a 120-by-60-foot farm shop, and crews remained on scene for roughly three hours.


Multiple agencies assisted Florence Fire Department, including Henry Fire Department, Wallace Fire Department, Codington County Sheriff’s Office, Codington County Search and Rescue, and the South Dakota State Fire Marshal’s Office.


No additional details were provided regarding injuries or the cause of the fire. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is involved in the response.
