Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call Wednesday evening after a report of a boat on fire inside a residential garage on the 3000 block of Derby Avenue, according to a department media release.

Fire crews were dispatched around 5 p.m. and arrived to find a small fire and smoldering debris in the front compartments of the boat. Firefighters used a water extinguisher to put out the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further inside the garage.

Thermal imaging cameras were used to check for any extension into surrounding areas, and firefighters confirmed the fire was contained to the boat’s front compartments. Damage to the garage was minimal. Crews then used a positive‑pressure fan to ventilate smoke from the home and attic space above the garage.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
