Watertown Fire Rescue swiftly addresses a garage fire on 6th Avenue SE, ensuring safety and preventing further damage.

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue responded Monday evening to a garage fire at the intersection of 2nd Street and 6th Avenue SE, arriving to find smoke coming from a detached single‑stall structure.


Crews were dispatched at approximately 6:00 p.m. and reported laminar smoke conditions on arrival — a sign that the fire was contained but actively burning inside the garage. Firefighters forced entry and quickly extinguished the fire, keeping it confined to the interior of the structure.


According to Watertown Fire Rescue, the cause of the fire remains undetermined, though it is believed to be accidental.

Units responding included Engine 4, Engine 3, Battalion 1, and Medic 3. Firefighters remained on scene for about 45 minutes to ensure the fire was fully out and to ventilate the structure.


No injuries were reported.


Watertown Fire Rescue thanked the Watertown Police Department for assisting at the scene.
