Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue crews quickly knocked down a vehicle fire late Tuesday night after flames from a burning pickup threatened a nearby detached garage on 4th Street NW.

Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 10:50 p.m. to the 300 block, where they arrived to find a late‑model Ford pickup fully engulfed. According to the department, heavy fire was showing from both the passenger compartment and engine compartment, and the truck was parked only about eight feet from a four‑stall garage — creating what officials described as an immediate exposure hazard.

Crews launched an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control within roughly three minutes. Firefighters then checked the garage for extension and determined damage was minimal, limited to warped weather stripping around a garage door.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
