Watertown Kiwanis Club and Jeff Anderson Earn Top Honors at Minnesota-Dakotas District Convention

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Kiwanis Club of Watertown and one of its most dedicated members, Jeff Anderson, brought home top honors from the Kiwanis Minnesota-Dakotas 190th Annual District Convention, held in Fargo, N.D., from August 7-9.

During the convention, Anderson was awarded the Division 5 Star Award, which recognizes Kiwanians who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their local clubs and communities. Alongside Anderson’s individual recognition, the Kiwanis Club of Watertown received the Distinguished Club Award for its overall service and organizational accomplishments.

“Jeff represents what Kiwanis is all about — giving your time and talents to make your club and community stronger,” said Bradey Blackwell, President of the Kiwanis Club of Watertown. “For 45 years, he has served without looking for recognition, and we are very pleased to see him receive this well-deserved honor. We are also proud of our entire club for earning the Distinguished Club Award.”

Decades of Dedication and Service

Anderson has been a member of Kiwanis for 45 years, dedicating the past 21 years specifically to the Watertown club. The club nominated him for the Star Award in recognition of his decades of service, steady leadership, and willingness to step in wherever needed.

His extensive contributions to the club and community include:

·        Community Projects: Playing a vital role in the semi-annual Krispy Kreme fundraiser by securing orders from local businesses, as well as regularly volunteering for Camp Chance, the Salvation Army Red Kettle bell ringing, PACH lunch packing, and the Watertown Banquet.

·        Club Leadership: Serving on the club’s board of directors, co-chairing the membership committee for many years, and acting as a mentor to prepare new members for leadership roles.

·        District Leadership: Serving two terms as lieutenant governor and previously acting as the district’s Public Relations chair. He also chaired the district conventions hosted in Watertown in 2017 and 2024.

·        Event Attendance: Attending more than 30 Kiwanis district conventions, as well as a Kiwanis International convention in Indianapolis.

·        Public Relations: Utilizing his professional background in radio to promote the Kiwanis Club and its various activities on local airwaves.

Anderson’s commitment extends well beyond Kiwanis. He is an active participant in Yellow Rose Week, which raises funds to assist cancer patients, and he and his wife have co-chaired the Codington County Library book sale for several years.
