Watertown mosquito spraying planned Thursday night for northwest neighborhoods (7/30)

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown says mosquito spraying will take place Thursday night in the northwest part of town after population levels reached the threshold for treatment.

According to the city’s Mosquito Control Program, spraying will occur north of 3rd Avenue North and west of Broadway, beginning after 9:00 p.m. on July 30, weather permitting.

Officials say the adulticide used is considered a fairly safe material, but residents in the affected area are encouraged to follow several common‑sense precautions during and shortly after spraying:

·         Remain indoors whenever possible while spraying is underway.

·         Keep children and pets inside during spraying and for about an hour afterward.

·         Rinse homegrown fruits and vegetables thoroughly before cooking or eating.

The city will continue monitoring mosquito activity and will announce additional spraying as needed.
