Watertown Police Seek the Public’s Help to Recover Nine Stolen State Training Motorcycles

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown Police Department is calling on the community for assistance in locating a stolen trailer containing nine South Dakota Department of Public Safety motorcycles. Authorities are also seeking to identify the individual or individuals responsible for the theft.
The incident took place during the early morning hours of May 13, 2026, in the southwest area of Watertown. According to police, surveillance footage captured what appears to be a black Dodge crew cab pickup truck pulling the stolen trailer westbound out of the city. Investigators were able to track the suspect vehicle as it traveled through Clark, South Dakota, but the identity of the suspects currently remains unknown.

Stolen Property Details
The missing property includes the following items:
· A silver 2013 8-by-22-foot aluminum trailer, bearing the South Dakota license plate 1056TR.
· Six black 2008 Suzuki GZ250 motorcycles.
· Three white and copper 2011 Suzuki TU250X motorcycles.

The theft has dealt a blow to state safety programs, as these specific motorcycles are utilized to provide rider education and instruction to citizens throughout South Dakota. Police officials note that the loss has significantly impacted these vital training efforts and are asking the public to come forward to help recover them.
The Watertown Police Department has released stock photos of the motorcycles and an image of the actual trailer, along with a surveillance image of the suspect vehicle in the act of towing the stolen goods, to aid in the search.
To encourage public cooperation, the department is offering a reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the crime.
