Watertown Post 17 Falls to Rapid City Post 22 in South Dakota Class A Legion Baseball Tournament Opener

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Rapid City Post 22’s offense proved every bit worthy of its No. 1 seed Tuesday, collecting 13 hits to hand Watertown Post 17 a 10–2 loss in the opening round of the South Dakota Class A American Legion Baseball Tournament.

Watertown’s scoring came in the fifth inning, when Carter Buisker delivered an RBI single and a Post 22 error allowed a second run to cross. The Arrows finished with eight hits, led by Sam Olson (2-for-3) and Cole Hansen (2-for-4). Cain Everson, Jonathan Lake, Jaxon Falak and Buisker each added a hit.

Jackson McClemans took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over two innings. Kooper Heiser, Kasen Jensen and Ashton Rabine combined for the final four innings, yielding six runs on seven hits.

Rapid City’s lineup was steady throughout the night. Kain McLeod went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Aiden Roberts, Jaxson Reeder, Wyatt Reeder and Hadley Burrus each posted two hits.

On the mound, Brayden Stapert earned the win after holding Watertown to two runs on six hits across 4 1/3 innings. Taten Gittings closed the door with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits.

Watertown now moves into the elimination bracket and will face Brandon Valley at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The game will stream live on Hard Hats TV on YouTube.
