A Bittersweet Farewell: Captains Dennis and Kelly Jolly to Depart Watertown Salvation Army

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - After five years of dedicated service to the Watertown community, Captains Dennis and Kelly Jolly have announced they will be transitioning to a new appointment within The Salvation Army. Their final day in Watertown is set for June 30th, after which they will begin a new chapter of ministry in St. Louis.


A Legacy of Service

Since arriving in 2021, the Jollys have been instrumental in leading the local Salvation Army through various community outreach programs, social services, and fellowship initiatives. In a heartfelt letter addressed to “Friends and Neighbors of Watertown,” the Captains expressed that their time in the community has been a highlight of their careers.


“Serving the Watertown community since 2021 has been an incredible privilege,” the Captains shared. “Over these past years, we have witnessed the power of faith, hope, and love at work in so many lives.”


Moving Toward a New Chapter

While the move to St. Louis brings excitement for new opportunities, the couple noted that leaving the friendships and celebrations they’ve shared in South Dakota is “bittersweet.” They emphasized their deep gratitude for the trust and partnership the community has shown to both their family and The Salvation Army at large.

The Road Ahead for Watertown

Though the departure of the Jollys marks the end of an era, they expressed full confidence in the future of the local branch. The Salvation Army in Watertown is expected to continue its thrive under new leadership following the June transition.


The Captains encouraged residents to stay active in the ministry and outreach that defines the area. “We are confident that The Salvation Army in Watertown will continue to thrive under new leadership, and we encourage you to remain engaged, supportive, and active.”
