Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Codington County Commissioners approved two rural plat resolutions, finalizing agricultural property transfers and farmstead exemptions in Rauville Township and the former reservation area.

Zoning Officer Luke Mueller presented the Wyatt Endres Addition under Resolution 2026-27. The plat is in the northwest quarter of Section 8, Township 118, Range 52, in Rauville Township, about 4.5 miles north of Rauville on Old Highway 81.

The action transfers a 5-acre parcel from a quarter-section owned by Nick Endres to his son, Wyatt, utilizing an existing farmstead exemption.

"This is a property that was granted an existing farmstead exemption to allow Wyatt's dad to live on a lot of less than 35 acres here going back roughly 20 years ago," Mueller said. "Nick will own the remainder of the quarter and then some, and then the son will own this new 5-acre piece that we're talking about."

Commissioner Myron Johnson moved to approve the Wyatt Endres Addition, and Commissioner Tyler McElhany seconded. The resolution passed unanimously.

The commission then reviewed the Three Oaks Farms Addition under Resolution 2026-28. The property sits in the northwest quarter of Section 35, Township 119 North, Range 52 West, located 2 miles west of the Wyatt Endres plat.

Mueller explained that the owners received a farmstead exemption two months before subdividing a 12-acre lot from a roughly quarter-section of agricultural land.

"That 12-acre lot just goes around the old farm site," Mueller said.

Commissioner Myron Johnson moved to approve the Three Oaks Farms Addition, and Vice Chairman Randy Schweer seconded. The plat was approved unanimously.
