Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The historic Goss Opera House is set to transform its first-floor corridor into a vibrant hub for local talent with the launch of Art Alley. This new gallery space is designed to bring fine art out of traditional settings and into the daily flow of downtown Watertown.
Located in the high-traffic hallway connecting the Goss Opera House and Mavericks, Art Alley will serve as a rotating gallery for local and regional creators. To bridge the gap between physical viewing and digital engagement, each piece will be accompanied by a QR code, allowing visitors to instantly connect with the artist’s portfolio or purchase work online.

Grand Opening: The “ART of Downtown”
The gallery will officially open its doors on Saturday, May 2, coinciding with the Downtown Collective’s highly anticipated “ART of Downtown” event.
The inaugural exhibit, titled “Taking Out the Trash: #JunkOnPavement,” features the work of renowned Watertown photographer Patrick “PJ” Anderson. The series captures discarded and overlooked objects exactly as they are found, challenging viewers to find unexpected beauty in the mundane. This exhibit marks the final public showing of the #JunkOnPavement series.

Art for Everyone
Jamie Mack, Executive Director of the Goss Opera House, emphasized that Art Alley's goal is accessibility.
“Art Alley brings creativity into the everyday flow of our building,” said Jamie Mack. “It’s about making art easy to discover and creating meaningful connections between artists and our community.”
