Lake Area Tech Alumni 5K and Open House Set for Oct. 3 in Watertown
Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Lake Area Technical College will welcome alumni, students, employees, families, and community members to campus on Saturday, October 3, for two major events: the Lake Area Tech Alumni Association 5K Run/Walk and the Lake Area Technical College Open House.
The Alumni Association’s annual 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. at Lake Area Tech, with participant check‑in from 8 to 8:45 a.m. inside the Student Center. Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to take part, though pets, rollerblades, bicycles, and similar items are not allowed on the course for safety.
Registration fees vary by date and participant type:
· $20 Early Bird through September 24 (includes race‑day shirt)
· $25 from September 25–October 1
· $15 for LATC Alumni
· $15 for LATC Faculty & Staff
· FREE for current LATC students*
· FREE for kids 12 and under
*Student promo code required; ID checked at check‑in. Registration closes October 1.
All proceeds support the Lake Area Tech Alumni Association and its work to strengthen connections between the college and its alumni community.
Businesses and organizations can also support the event through sponsorships, due by September 17 to meet shirt‑production deadlines:
· Gold Sponsor – $500: Large logo on event shirt + social media acknowledgment
· Silver Sponsor – $250: Medium logo on shirt
· Bronze Sponsor – $100: Small logo on shirt
Following the 5K, Lake Area Tech will host an Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can tour the campus, explore learning spaces, and enjoy light refreshments. The event is open to alumni, prospective students, families, and community members.
Both events offer opportunities to reconnect with Lake Area Tech and celebrate the college’s role in technical education and workforce training.
