Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - High school students looking to get an early start on their college degrees have a chance to lower their out-of-pocket costs this fall. The Lake Area Technical College Foundation has opened applications for its Dual Credit Scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year, with an application deadline set for September 14, 2026.

The scholarship program provides targeted financial aid to high school students who are registered for dual credit courses through Lake Area Tech and demonstrate financial need. By taking dual credit classes, students earn high school and college credits simultaneously, reducing both the time and cost required to complete a future degree.

“Dual credit courses are a great way for high school students to get a head start on their college education while still in high school,” said Rosemary Bellum, Dual Credit Coordinator at Lake Area Technical College. “We know that the cost of college courses can be a consideration for families, and these scholarships provide an opportunity for eligible students to participate in dual credit and begin earning college credit.”

Bellum works closely with high school students and guidance counselors throughout the region to navigate the dual credit process and can assist applicants with questions regarding eligibility and documentation.

To complete the online application, students must first obtain an access code from their high school counselor. High school counselors and students are encouraged to reach out early in the semester to ensure all required documentation is submitted before the September deadline.

For eligibility requirements and to submit an application, visit the Lake Area Tech Foundation online at https://www.lakeareatech.edu/foundation/scholarships/dual-credit-scholarship/.

For additional information or questions about the process, contact Dual Credit Coordinator Rosemary Bellum directly at 605-882-5284, Ext. 220.
