Lake Area Tech Festival of Trees Returns to Watertown Nov. 20 for 27th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Lake Area Technical College is preparing to welcome more than 400 guests for one of Watertown’s longest‑running holiday traditions. The Lake Area Technical College Foundation will host its 27th Annual Festival of Trees on Friday, Nov. 20, transforming the LATC Student Center into a showcase of decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, holiday displays, and community generosity.

The event features live and silent auctions of trees, wreaths, and unique items donated by area individuals and businesses. Guests will enjoy a social hour, heavy hors d’oeuvres, complimentary beer and wine, and live music performed by Gena Schulz and Shawn Lenning. Tickets are $100, and attendees must be 21 or older. Semi‑formal holiday attire is encouraged.

Sponsorship opportunities remain available at multiple levels, including a reserved table for eight. Attendees may purchase additional seats individually through the LATC Foundation. Executive Director Tracy Buisker says sponsor support helps offset event expenses, allowing more of the money raised to directly benefit students.

“Last year, the Foundation awarded more than $5.7 million in scholarships to LATC students, and events like the Festival of Trees help make that level of support possible,” Buisker said. She added that while the event has become a cherished holiday tradition, its core mission remains focused on helping students succeed.

For nearly three decades, the Festival of Trees has brought together families, businesses, and community partners to celebrate the season while investing in the future of LATC students. For more information, contact the LATC Foundation at 605‑882‑5284 ext. 308 or foundation@lakeareatech.edu.
