Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Lake Area Technical College reported 617 students enrolled for the Summer 2026 term, a figure that aligns closely with projections and reflects a minor shift in dual‑credit scheduling rather than a drop in demand. LATC President Tiffany Sanderson presented the update Monday night during the Watertown School Board meeting.

We have 617 students who are enrolled this summer, and that follows our projections,” Sanderson told the board. “We’re down 36 students from last year in headcount, and that all comes down to… some Watertown High School students who take dual credit. Last year they were enrolled in the summer semester, and this year we had those enrolled in the spring semester.

She emphasized that the change was a timing shift, not a decline in participation.

It was just a shift in those numbers,” she said.

Despite the slight summer adjustment, LATC ended the academic year on a positive trajectory.

Overall, our total enrollment for the year was up 19. We finished the year at 2,780 students,” Sanderson reported. “So a very strong year on behalf of Lake Area Tech.

She credited faculty and staff for sustaining momentum across programs.
