South Dakota Girls Hockey Weekend Returns to Watertown with Expanded Lineup

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - One of South Dakota’s most anticipated youth sports weekends returns this fall as the South Dakota Girls Hockey Weekend takes over the ice in Watertown.


The event, now a staple in the state’s hockey calendar, will be held on October 18–19 and is free of charge to all registered participants, thanks to generous sponsorships and community fundraising efforts.


The South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association expects a strong turnout across multiple age divisions, with games and on-ice sessions scheduled throughout the weekend. The event is designed to promote skill development, team bonding, and statewide participation in girls' hockey.


Weekend Schedule Highlights:


·        High School Girls: 3–4 games held Friday through Sunday

·        14U Girls: 3 games held Saturday and Sunday

·        10U Girls: 3 on-ice sessions/games held Saturday and Sunday

·        8U Girls: 3 on-ice sessions/games held Saturday and Sunday

·        Try Hockey for Free: Saturday morning session for new players

·        Watertown Shamrocks NAHL Game vs. Bismarck Bobcats: Saturday at 7:00 PM


All registered players will receive a complimentary Girls Weekend T-shirt. Participants who registered by September 15 were also eligible to request a free ticket to the Shamrocks game. Additional tickets for the October 18 matchup are available for purchase at tickets.watertownshamrocks.com.


Organizers emphasize that the success of Girls Hockey Weekend depends on community involvement. Families and supporters are encouraged to contribute in the following ways:


·        Sponsorships: Businesses interested in supporting girls hockey can advertise on event T-shirts, which are worn year-round by more than 200 athletes across South Dakota.

·        Silent Auction Prizes: Donations of 20–25 items are needed for the weekend’s raffle fundraiser.
