Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown City Council unanimously approved a bid award tonight for the 2026 10th Avenue Northwest Water Main Project, marking a key step in providing necessary infrastructure for new commercial development.
The bid of $86,600 was awarded to Austreim Excavating, LLC of Brookings, South Dakota.
City Engineer Justin Petersen presented the project, explaining that the water main is essential to support future growth in the area near Highway 20, specifically near the Dollar General and the planned new street facility.
“This project is to construct a water main to provide water service and fire flow for the new development in that area, as well as a street facility,” Petersen stated.
The project saw significant competitive interest, drawing nine different bidders. Austreim Excavating submitted the lowest bid, prompting the staff to recommend approval.
Following a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the bid award.
