Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Young adults in Watertown have a new avenue to serve, lead, and connect with the formation of the Rotaract Club of Watertown. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Watertown, S.D., this community-based service club is inviting individuals ages 18 to 40 to join its growing ranks.
Rotaract is dedicated to developing leadership skills, finding innovative solutions to community issues, and making friends both locally and globally. Rotary believes supporting young professionals is vital to a community’s well-being, sharing a goal for members to develop their skills and eventually grow into Rotary membership.
Rotary President David Ross made establishing a Watertown Rotaract club one of his top three priorities this year. To spearhead the initiative, he entrusted the role of President to Laura Moore, who has five years of Rotary experience and recently represented the Midwest/USA at a Rotary young professionals conference in Mexico.
“The top reasons young professionals look to join a group like this are to meet new people, attend professional development opportunities, and to be involved in their communities,” said President Laura Moore. “Many want to be invited to help with a service project, attend a networking night, or participate in a club gathering, but just need the invite and place to do so.”

Inclusive and Community-Focused
Rotaract presents a wealth of opportunities with minimal expectations. The group emphasizes that young people from all career paths are welcome. You do not have to wear a suit at work or be a manager to participate. Students, interns, and stay-at-home parents are highly encouraged to join. Even individuals already involved in another service group are welcome to become members.
Rotary and Rotaract connect committed individuals of all ages, at all stages of their careers, across all industries. Rotary’s long-standing commitment to youth and emerging leaders is also visible through its sponsorship of high school leadership camps and the Top 4 Under 40 award given away each year at the Day of Development.

Leadership Opportunities and Upcoming Events
The Rotaract Club of Watertown is actively looking to expand its leadership team. The founding board currently includes:
· President: Laura Moore
· Secretary: Nicole Hansen, Prairie Lakes Healthcare System
· Treasurer: Andrea Spilde, Minnwest Bank
· Public Image Chair: Tucker Hermans, The Watertown Current
These four founding board members need a minimum of three more individuals to fill the Vice President, Rotary International Fundraising Chair, and Community Service Chair positions. The club is also looking for general board members.
To introduce the club to the public, Watertown Rotaract will host two open house events at Breakout Coffeehouse:
· July 21 (Morning)
· July 29 (Afternoon)
Stein Sign Display is generously supporting the launch by providing free billboard advertising to promote these events. Specific event times and details can be found on the club’s Facebook page.
