Watertown sales tax collections rise through the first quarter of 2026

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown’s sales tax revenues continue to trend upward in 2026, with the city reporting steady year‑over‑year growth across its 1st Penny, 2nd Penny, and BBB tax categories, according to newly released financial data.
The city’s 1st Penny General Fund collected $2,601,671 from January through March, up from $2,459,862 during the same period in 2025 — a 5.76% increase. “Jan ’26: 843,562 … Increase: 40,854 … 5.09%”
The 2nd Penny Capital Fund mirrored the same totals and percentage changes, as both pennies track identically in the report.
BBB tax shows strong early‑year performance
