Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown School Board received an update on the upcoming observance of American Education Week, which is scheduled for November 17th through the 21st. The update, delivered by Watertown Education Association (WEA) President-Elect Susie Hooth, was an opportunity to publicly recognize and thank the district's staff.
Speaking on behalf of the WEA, Hooth emphasized the critical, multi-faceted role of educators…
American Education Week, traditionally celebrated the week before Thanksgiving, dedicates themes to different categories of professionals impacting students’ lives. The celebration honors all:
· Educators
· Support Professionals
· Substitute Teachers
To mark the occasion, the WEA will be providing special shirts celebrating the district's teachers. The School Board confirmed that there will also be "special surprises" throughout the week, which historically involve treats and snacks for staff.
Susie Hooth, the WEA President-Elect, is a fifth-grade teacher at the Intermediate School. She teaches reading, science, and writing, and is one of the original staff members at the Intermediate School, bringing 15 years of teaching experience across the Watertown and Hamlin school districts.
