Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown Parks and Recreation Department is calling for increased vigilance from the community following reports of ongoing vandalism at the local gun range.
According to officials, the facility has seen repeated damage to its infrastructure, specifically the intentional shooting of support posts. While the range remains open, the department is working to mitigate the damage caused by these reckless actions.

The Parks crew is currently in the process of replacing damaged sections and performing routine maintenance on the rubber mats used to secure targets. However, staff noted a unique seasonal challenge: several of the damaged posts are currently frozen into the ground, making immediate extraction impossible. These posts will be properly replaced as soon as ground conditions allow.
The City is asking range users and neighbors to help protect the facility. If you witness anyone intentionally shooting the support posts or engaging in other acts of vandalism, you are encouraged to report it immediately.
Whom to call:
·        Watertown Police Department: 605-882-6210
·        Park & Rec Fieldhouse: 605-882-6260
Officials remind the public that maintaining the range is a community effort, and preventing damage helps keep the facility safe and operational for all law-abiding enthusiasts.
